READ: Rev. 17 (focusing on v.14)
“They will make war on the Lamb and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is lord of lords and king of kings and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”– Revelation 17:14
REFLECT/RELATE:
I love this verse. When you read v.14, you know instinctively that judgment is coming upon Satan, with all of his demons for all the havoc they wreak on the Earth to deceive and to destroy. It talks about them waging war against the Lamb and against the chosen and faithful followers of Jesus. However, the Lamb will triumph over them. The church must remember that the devil is the loser. When Satan is coming after you, be strong and courageous, the victory has already been won by Jesus.
For all who trust in Jesus, He identifies Himself with you. War against the church is war against Christ and I would like to encourage you - remember that when you are tempted, that you have Jesus in you. You are on the winning team.
When you’re walking through trials, you have Jesus with you on your side, walking with you, protecting you, guiding you, leading you, directing you, giving you everything you need. You will have no fear because He who is within you is greater that he that is in the world. Jesus is Lord of lords and King of kings. He has no peer.
This is again for all who trust in Jesus. If you have never put your trust in Jesus, I urge you, put your trust in Jesus today. For the Lord of lords and the King of kings is the one who alone can save you from your sins and for all who trust in Him, you are called by God.
There’s so much to this language we could talk about all over the Bible. Foreknown by God, called before the creation of the world, He’s called your name. You’re called and chosen. God has chosen to pour out His affection on you. God has chosen to save you from your sin. God has chosen to make you His child. This is Jesus, saying to His disciples, you did not choose Me, I chose you. To hear God saying this to you today, you are called, chosen and faithful - means you are in His plan and His plan always seeks your eternal good.
REST:
May we be called faithful! Help us all be full of faith today in You. I pray this over my life, I pray this over every single person who’s reading this devotion right now, who has put their trust in You, help us to live full of faith in You today, we pray. Help us not to waver in faith. Help us to be bold in faith, to walk faithfully with You, obeying Your word, proclaiming the gospel. Amen.
