Revelations 22:12-21

Read Revelations 22:12-21 Verses for meditation: Revelations 22:12-13, 16, 20-21 ESV: 12 "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” 16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.” 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen. Reflect How does it feel to be reading the very last few verses of the bible? What do the proclamations, the last few of them, say about Christ? Come, Lord Jesus! Does this really express our desire? How does the greatest book end, and on what note? But is this really the end? Relate With mixed feelings, I'm writing this last devotion based on the final ten verses of the greatest book, the bible. What a journe...

Revelation 8:6-9:21

Read: Revelation 8:6-9:21

Verses chosen for reflection

20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk, 21 nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.

Reflect

Some parts of Revelation is difficult to read. Chapter 8 and 9 talked about the destruction and plagues that humans will suffer if they do not submit their lives to Christ. That sounded high-handed. However, considering the time God is giving to us now and not sure until when; I think He is already being very merciful. And even when God gives extended time for all mankind to turn to the Lord Jesus verses 20 and 21 tell us that there will be some who will insist on their depravity.

Relate

These two chapters of Revelation are not mere warnings for those who do not believe. They are as much of a warning to those who believe. The warning is that we do not falter from the faith. The warning is also the sharing of the Gospel is greatly urgent. And the sharing of the Gospel should not only be extended to those whom we love; but also towards those whom we will encounter.

At the end of the day, light and darkness cannot come together. Life and death cannot be mixed into the same bag. Only God will triumph and those who do not follow will unfortunately go with where the devil will be. There is no middle road. There is no grey area. Either we are with God or not.

Rest

This Advent season, let us continue to wait for the coming of the Christ child as well as the coming again of Jesus the Judge. May the Lord of grace help us all to repent as we should and turn back to Him. May the Lord of love help us to share and witness for the Gospel even as we wait for the coming of Christ. Amen.
